Are You Taking Care of Your Skin?
It's National Healthy Skin Month and we want to make sure you're taking care of your body's largest organ. Below are four key factors in skin health to consider when determing the right skin care regime for you.
-
Exfoliate and Moisturize: Part of the natural shedding process of skin, exfoliating is a great way to keep your skin healthy and looking fresh. But don’t forget to follow up this process with a moisturize that contains natural oils to keep your skin hydrated and soft. We know finding the right exfoliation product can be challenging, which is why we have a highly trained staff of professionals at The Spa at Midtown. So, treat yourself to a facial, massage, or signature treatment and allow them to help you find the right products for you skin care regime. View our services and book and appointment here.
Relax: Stress can take a toll on our health, especially when it comes to our skin. When stressed, the body releases cortisol, which can throw off hormones and lead to breakouts, rashes, and more. While there are many ways to relieve stress, one of the most commonly recommended is exercise. Working out allows you to clear your head and boosts endorphins. Not to mention, hitting the gym is a great way to maintain a healthy weight, strengthen your muscles, and protect against heart disease. Check out our group exercise schedule to see how you can start de-stressing.
- Wear Sunscreen: We may have entered the winter months, but that doesn’t mean you should pack away your sunscreen with the rest of your summer essentials. Whether it’s sunny or cool and cloudy, you need to protect your skin from the sun’s rays. Of course, this doesn’t mean you need to layer up on heavy sunscreen all year round, a moisturizer with SPF will do the trick in the winter months.
- Eat a Healthy Diet: Just as important as what we’re putting on our skin is what we’re putting in our body. A diet of fruits, vegetables, lean protein, Omega 3s, whole grains, and B vitamins with minimal diary and red meat is key to healthy skin. If you aren’t sure how to fit all of this into your diet, our registered nutritionists on staff are happy to share tips and tricks. Your skin will thank you.
